safefood’s Equality Scheme
safefood’s equality scheme is designed to ensure we actively promote equal opportunities and good relations within our organisation, and in our dealings with other parties and individuals. We are fully committed to observing equal opportunity legislation (Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 - the Act), not only as our duty, but as a natural expression of the safefood ethos. 

The objectives set out within the safefood equality scheme are required through the NI act and NI legislation, not ROI legislation. The safefood equality scheme details how the board proposes to fulfill their obligations. You can download a full copy or a summary below.

Annual Progress Report to the Equality Commission
Every year safefood produces a progress report for the Equality Commission describing what the organisation has done to promote equality in line with its statutory duty under section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998. These are public documents which have been prepared by safefood using the Equality Commission’s template. Copies are available on request, or may be downloaded below.

safefood will make the reports available in large print and Irish on request, and will consider requests for other formats or translation into other languages.

Consultation on Section 75 policy screening

From time to time, safefood, in order to meet its commitments to equality engages in consultation with various stakeholders on aspects of its policy making.  In early 2006 we sought views with regards to Section 75 Policy Screening and the response to this consultation can be downloaded below in Word format.
